Magazine Promotional Poster - Initial Ideas:
Within our promotional magazine poster designs, it is vital that we entice our target audience to purchase the album and simultaneously increase prominence of the band's promotional music video on the streaming platform YouTube. If we had unlimited means, I believe it would be a lucrative idea to create an interactive poster, using augmented reality scannable barcodes; which could take you directly to the YouTube profile of the band. Due to the proliferation of ubiquitous hardware, such as mobile phones, through the increasing prominence of the internet, this would be an excellent marketing strategy, to increase views. Similarly, this would make the poster highly memorable, increasing the likelihood of the viewer purchasing the album. However, as we are producing our ancillary tasks on a significantly lower budget than in the real media world, we will instead choose to link all of the bands social media on the final product, in order to simultaneously sell the album and boost the bands online social media presence (symbiotic relationship).
Our magazine advertisement will also utilise the recurring motif of polaroids, thus continuing loyalty to the rest of our promotional products. It will also be vital to uphold the following conventions of a magazine advertisements:
- It must include the album and band's name in prominence
- It must include record label and copyright information; whilst also stating where you can purchase the album.
- In order to increase the likelihood of fans wanting to purchase the album, the poster should showcase the best reviews the album has received - proving it was well received by critics.
- The artwork must reflect the rest of the promotional package, to create memorability between all of the products.
