'Everyone's Waiting' - Missy Higgins
The transition I have chosen to recreate occurs from 0:27- 0:43. It consists of a close-up shot of the artist, who is positioned in the right hand corner of the frame; with a shallow depth of field focusing on the artist with a blurred view of the ocean/beach set of the video. The camera then pans to the left and there is a slow blurred crossfade transition between the shallow focus close up shot to a long shot of the artist standing on the beach with a sharp focus. The colour grading of the shot changes from a cold saturation to a warm red and yellowed colour grade as the transition takes place and the shot switches from day to night.

Overall I am happy with the result of the recreation of the transition, considering our limited means of equipment. After experiencing a problem with our tripod we ended up filming the transition by hand (adapting a steady-cam method), which decreased the stability of the shots, despite my attempts to stabilise it in post production. This meant that it was difficult to create a smooth transition between the two shots as they were both slightly different angles and therefore the continuity between the two shots wasn't as good as it could have been. However, I believe that the second part of the transition was more effective as the second shot was more stable meaning the crossfade between the two appeared more natural. When filming, we had our protagonist speak the lyrics out loud at a talking pace, which prevented us from matching the lip-syncing clip to the audio correctly. In post-production we attempted to alter the speed duration of the clip in order to slow it down in time with the pace of the audio, however, it didn't look entirely natural.
